In 2024, the Air Force "looked at the world as it is and moved decisively to eliminate out-of-date and indefensible barriers that blocked capable recruits from joining the service," wrote service officials Alex Wagner and Brig. Gen. Christopher R. Amrhein.
The Army spent 2023 looking for ways to refill its weapon stockpiles, preparing for future conflicts and welcoming a new chief.
“If we don't turn our recruiting situation around, I can't guarantee you that the Army won't have to make some more substantial potential force structure reductions,” Army Secretary Christine Wormuth told senators.
